First Trailer For ‘Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones’ Promises New Twists

Hollywood may be unusually light on horror offerings this month, but January 2014 is quickly shaping up to be something special. We already saw the trailer for Devil’s Due, and this morning Paramount rolled out the official announcement for the January 3 release of Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.

Written and directed by Christopher Landon, and starring Richard Cabral, Carlos Pratts, and Eddie J. Fernandez, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones is the long-awaited latino themed horror entry in the found footage franchise that has grossed well over $500 million to date. It’s the same film teased at the end of Paranormal Activity 4, and now thanks to the trailer we have a much more complete (though still entirely vague) idea of what will be taking place. A group of friends decide to visit the home of a recently deceased neighbor and discover she was involved in something that seems evil. Littered amongst her possessions are photographs of our leads, which they cannot explain, as well as a box of video tapes containing footage of Katie, the woman at the center of the previous Paranormal Activity films. Not long after this visit, one of the friends begins to experience weird, unexplainable occurrences, and that’s when the trailer essentially becomes a sizzle reel of shaky-yet-scary footage. You can view the preview in HD at the end of this post.

To help promote the announcement of The Marked Ones Paramount is currently running a social media driven contest. Upload a photo of paranormal activity in your city to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram tagging your city and #TheMarkedOnes for a chance to see The Marked Ones before anyone else! It’s not our contest, but it’s a pretty cool opportunity (and we like ghost stuff).

We’ll be covering this film, as well as Paranormal Activity 5 (also rumored for 2014), a lot in the months ahead. Comment below and let us know whether or not The Marked Ones will be getting a piece of your hard earned money when January rolls around.
