The trailer for the latest Tom Cruise-led sci-fi extravaganza was set to debut with this weekend’s screenings of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug but non-Hobbit-following fans of the Cruiser are in luck as the trailer has made its way online today. Edge of Tomorrow, which previously went by the slightly less generic title All You Need Is Kill, was directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith) and is set for a June 6, 2014 release.

The film looks a little bit Groundhog Day, a little bit Source Code, and a lot of (insert alien invasion movie title here) as Cruise’s character attempts to defend Earth from an alien attack by repeatedly dying and going back into combat. Emily Blunt co-stars, while Jeremy Piven and Bill Paxton round out the cast. Check out the trailer after the jump and let us know if you’re excited for Edge of Tomorrow.
