Skrillex Streams New Surprise Album, ‘Recess’

Skrillex

So far, it looks like 2014 may go down in history as “the year of the surprise album.” Ever since Beyoncé unexpectedly released her fifth full-length back in December without any prior promotion, scores of artists have followed suit, the most recent being Grammy Award-winning DJ/producer, Skrillex. With the recent announcement of his absolutely mammoth MotherShip tour, the ex-FFTL frontman additionally debuted an app titled “Alien Ride” containing 11 “hidden objects.” On Monday night, said objects began unlocking every 30 minutes to reveal the songs that would make up the dubstep trendsetter’s newest album, Recess.

Recess will see its official release on March 18 via OWSLA/BigBeat/Atlantic Records, but will be streaming on ITunes Radio for the next week, though presently the service seems to be down; as this is likely due to high traffic, I’d suggest checking back at a later date. According to Skrillex, fans can also stream the album directly through the “Alien Ride” app. If you like it, grab a pre-order here.
