Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett Release New Jazz Single

cheek to cheek

Lady Gaga‘s Little Monsters defend her fiercely, but I have never been able to get behind Gaga’s whole thing. I never liked her songs and felt that she was sacrificing the full use of her vocal talent for gimmicks. (Are those torches and pitchforks outside my window? Do people do that anymore?) In her upcoming jazz release with Tony Bennett, she is finally showing off her chops. And you know what? The girl has pipes.

The pair announced the release of their collaboration on The Today Show earlier this month and the most recent single from Cheek To Cheek is “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love,” oft-covered jazz standard that dates back to 1928. Their version prominently features an old-timey organ (think “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”) and Gaga sounding remarkably like Christina Aguilera. Her voice really blossoms; it’s a great fit for her and one’s she’s clearly happy about.

You can listen to the new track and check out a recent tweet from Mother Monster below.
