UTG PHOTOS: Fun. & Miniature Tigers (4/18/12)

Under The Gun sent photographer Tori Thomas to photograph the fun. and Miniature Tigers show in Grand Rapids on April 18th.

I arrived at The Intersection in Grand Rapids, MI expecting a great show, and that’s exactly what I got. The show started off with Miniature Tigers pumping up the crowd; they did a great job at that. I’ve been a fan of Miniature Tigers for quite some time and this was my first time seeing them perform live; it was a real treat. They played some of there old songs and some new songs from their recent release, Mia Pharaoh. Their new stuff is definitely more poppy and more of an 80’s feel, and as many people know, I love the 80’s! I was definitely digging the vibes they were sending from their music.

After Miniature Tigers played, it was time for the headliner, fun. to perform. I’ve seen fun. quite a few times, as followers of UTG should know from my previous coverage of their shows (Pittsburgh, Cleveland, & Columbus). Fun. did nothing but impress at their show. Yeah, Yeah fun. is getting super popular because of their song “We Are Young,” but they deserve it because their music is fantastic and original. This sold out show had tons of fans singing along to every word, and that helped out because during “Some Nights (Intro),” singer Nate Ruess “fucked up” the words, aka forgetting the lyrics; fans helped him get back on track and finish the song.

The show was nothing but fantastic and you should check out the photos I took at the show after the link. If you have a chance to check out this tour, definitely go. If tickets aren’t sold out yet, buy your tickets now, they will sell out!
