Full Details Regarding “Real to Reel,” The Soundtrack For Dave Grohl’s “Sound City” Documentary Revealed

The complete track list and performer information for Sound City – Real to Reel, the soundtrack accompanying Dave Grohl’s Sound City documentary, was released today.

The artist credits read like a who’s who of classic and contemporary rock royalty. People like Paul McCartney (shocker), Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac, Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, Corey Taylor of Slipknot/Stone Sour, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear of Nirvana are just some of the more famous featured performers.

Not to mention contributions on the album from members of Rage Against The Machine, Fear, Masters of Reality, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Traveling Wilburys, The Jayhawks… oh yeah, and Rick Springfield. He’s on there too.

Much like Grohl’s earlier dream vanity project Probot – the heavy metal supercollective that saw Grohl playing with the likes of Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead and Max Cavalera of Sepultura – all of the tracks on Sound City – Real to Reel are original compositions, with Grohl being the chain linking them together. That lucky S.O.B.
