2013 is the year of the young female pop star. Lorde is currently topping the charts after knocking down two of pop’s biggest names (Katy Perry / Miley Cyrus), and now sixteen-year-old Becky G is aiming for another round of radio play with the official remix to her breakout hit “Play It Again.”

If you don’t keep your ear tuned to the newest pop stars, there is a good chance you missed Becky G’s short run as a buzzworthy talent when her single “Play It Again” first debuted earlier this year. It’s a perfectly fine song in its original form, but it lacked that intangible ‘it’ factor that allows tracks to become radio mainstays. Now, thanks to a fresh edit and contribution from Taylor Gang heavyweight Juicy J, “Play It Again” is given a second chance at chart-topping success with the debut of the official remix. When you see the name Juicy J added to a track you generally know the kind of trap-loving twist the proceedings will incur, and that is the case once again with this remix. It’s a fitting, albeit familiar addition that adds a punch of catchiness that may be just enough to get Becky G on the radar of a few thousand new listeners.
