Following up a Grammy Award winning album is no small feat, especially one as sprawling, epic, and arguably generation-defining as The Suburbs, so Arcade Fire had their work cut out for them on Reflektor. After an intriguing viral marketing campaign, part of which included the band playing shows that required formal attire under an alter ego called The Reflektors, the album is finally available to stream. Give the James Murphy-produced LP a listen after the break.
In true Arcade Fire fashion, the Canadian group chose to go even bigger this time. The songs on Reflektor are long, with many clocking it at six-plus minutes, and they meld together a wide range of influences, from dance to Haitian rara music. There’s even a cameo from David Bowie. The end result is unlike any other indie rock album in recent memory, but who would have expected anything less from this band?
Reflektor hits stores next Tuesday, October 29.
