MILLENNIALS BEWARE: Put Your Cell Phone Away At Shows Or KEN mode Will Destroy It

In an age where an unquantifiable amount of information is right at the user’s fingertips, all KEN mode wants is for you to put the phone away while they are on stage. This is not an outlandish proposition from the Canadian noise band. It even, dare I say, makes sense?

In a recent Facebook post, the band stated if you are texting during their set be prepared to be “bathed in quite directed mucous or have your phone kicked from your hands by a man with a guitar or bass in his hands.” Again, not an outlandish proposition. Countless artists across all corners of this globe travel hundreds to thousands of miles, daily, to perform on a stage for you, the fan. The least you can do in return is shut the phone off for the half-hour or hour the artist is giving you of their time. Embrace the artistry of a live performance, especially one as prolific as KEN mode, and save sending the ridiculous Snapchat of your tongue sticking out in a direction it never should for when you are in the merch line waiting to buy the band’s latest record.

KEN mode posted a follow-up to the initial statement earlier today on their Facebook telling fans to use tact, be good to one another and to have a happy holiday. Click the “Read More” button to check out both posts in entirety.

Initial post on KEN mode’s Facebook yesterday:

An open warning to people attending our shows: if you stand in front of us and text while we are performing expect to either be bathed in quite directed mucous or have your phone kicked from your hands by a man with a guitar or bass in his hands. Expect it. No more being polite. Ever. If you want your phone ruined, do it.

Today’s follow-up post:

Now that we’ve properly stirred the pot using inflammatory language: stop being disrespectful dicks to one another, have some tact, and step outside of your bubble/comfort zone sometimes. Be good to one another, and have a happy holiday season – whatever you may believe or not believe. See some of you in 2014.

Nothing more annoying then when you’re trying to watch a performance and all you can see are cell phones recording the show happening right in front of you. Sounds and looks way better in real life too.
