Stream Braid’s First Album in 16 Years, ‘No Coast’

The Midwestern emo scene was not only one of the most important waves in the ’90s, but one of the most important waves to this day. Chicago got lucky when Braid started up back then, and we are similarly lucky to have them making a return to the scene today. No Coasttheir first full-length album in 16 years, sees the band challenging other reunited bands to up their game, reclaim their genres, and show today’s bands why music is about more than convenient timing.

The band is back with more catchy punk songs that get anthemic in the middle of their dance-frenzy structure. There’s more good stuff than just their single “Bang,” too. If you’re like me, you’ll be glad to hear “Put Some Wings on That Kid,” one of the album’s tracks that sounds like the Age of Octeen era Braid. Check No Coast out over at NPR where they’re streaming the album in full at their website.
