Oscar-nominated singer, songwriter, composer, and Arcade Fire sidekick Owen Pallett will be dropping his fourth album, In Conflict, May 27 via Domino/Secret City. In anticipation, he stopped by Canadian CBC Radio One’s Studio Q show to play “I Am Not Afraid.” It’s both a world premiere of the song and of Pallett playing piano and singing on air.
We’ve already gotten videos for “Song for Five & Six,” “The Riverbed,” and “On a Path,” but now we get a gorgeous live video of Pallett performing the album’s opening track. “I Am Not Afraid” flaunts his careful piano playing and pure, emotional, falsetto voice. It’s bittersweet and may cue up some tears with fantasy-driven lines like “I’ll never have any children. I’d bear them and eat them.” Watch it after the jump.
Don’t forget you can catch him play more of the new material on his upcoming tour.
