To start this all off, you’ve been seeing massive success from “Love Like Woe” lately. How does it feel to experience it?
It’s been crazy, it’s definitely very exciting for me and I appreciate all of the response. It just hit platinum. My parents hung the plaque right in the by the entrance of my house.
I’m sure you’ve heard the song on the radio by now, right? How does it feel to hear yourself on the radio?
It feels great! The first time I heard it, I was in L.A. driving in a car with a couple of the guys from my label. We were going to a photoshoot I think, and we heard it on XM radio. It’s crazy to hear it. It doesn’t feel any less amazing whenever I hear it, it’s definitely a mind blowing experience.
You just put out a second video for the song, how was filming the second one compared to the first? The theme is a lot different this time around, being a Valentine’s one.
The first one was basically 12 hours of us jumping around in a house, which was definitely exhausting. The second one was much more relaxed. We filmed it in a neighborhood in California, and we got to hang out with some farm animals, it was pretty sweet.
You just put out your new single “Young Forever”. Can you tell us a little about it?
Yeah! We’ve been doing a couple of premiere things at radio stations. It’s kind of about whenever I started doing the Ready Set, I was playing to nobody and traveling around the country, just bein’ broke. It’s kind of about taking the good in with the bad. It’s a feel good song, something you’d want to dance to.
You’re going to be doing the full Warped Tour this year. Are you stoked to finally play the whole thing?
Very stoked, I haven’t been to Warped Tour since I was 14, so it’s been 7 years since I’ve been. I’m sure it’s changed a lot, but I’m really excited to play the whole thing because friends of mine have said it’s an awesome time, so it’s great to finally be presented the opportunity to do it.
I know you’ve been talking about recording new music recently. Do you have any new releases planned?
I think we’re gonna do something like a special edition where we put a bunch of new songs on I’m Alive, I’m Dreaming for a re-release. The first release of it was kind of under the radar so hopefully a re-release can give it the boost it needs. As far as more new music goes, we hope to release a new EP sometime in the summer, maybe a new album this year? We’ll see, only time will tell.
